What is your birth philosophy and approach to midwifery care?

01.

At Mama Baby Midwifery, I believe birth is a sacred, physiological process that unfolds best when families feel safe, supported, & respected. My care is rooted in evidence-based practice, intuition, & a deep reverence for the wisdom of the body. I walk alongside you, offering clinical expertise, holistic tools, & a calming presence. I view pregnancy & birth through a lens of partnership; you’re the expert of your body & baby, & I am here to guide, nurture, & empower you. As a believer in Christ, my faith is woven through all that I do.

What types of services do you offer?

02.

I offer comprehensive home birth midwifery care, monitrice doula support for families planning hospital births, & placenta encapsulation services. Home birth care includes prenatal visits in the comfort of your home, continuous labor support, skilled attendance at your birth & postpartum care for both you & your baby. Monitrice support blends the nurturing presence of a doula with the clinical skills of a midwife during early labor. Placenta encapsulation is handled with the utmost care, safety, & reverence, drawing on traditional practices that honor the placenta’s significance.

What areas do you serve?

03.

I service Orange County & some surrounding areas in Los Angeles & the Inland Empire. If you’re unsure whether I service your area, please feel free to reach out.

What are the benefits of having a home birth?

04.

Home birth offers the experience of laboring & birthing in the comfort, privacy, & familiarity of your own environment, free from pressures, interruptions, & unfamiliar faces often found in institutional settings. At home, your body is more likely to relax, your hormones flow more optimally, & you’re surrounded by people that you know & trust. A midwife-led home birth fosters calmness & empowerment, & many unnecessary interventions are minimized.
One of the most significant benefits of home birth is the ability to avoid unnecessary interventions. Multiple large studies, including the 2016 Cochrane Review & the U.S based MANA Stats project show that midwifery clients experience lower rates of interventions like cesarean birth, epidural use, and episiotomies, without compromising safety for mother or baby. In fact, low-risk women who choose planned home birth with a skilled midwife often experience higher satisfaction, fewer complications, & greater autonomy. These outcomes are a direct result of individualized care, trust in the birth process, & the respectful, watchful waiting that is foundational to the midwifery model.

What qualifications do you have as a midwife?

05.

I am a Licensed Midwife in the state of California. I am licensed by the Medical Board of California, the same board that licenses physicians. I am also a Certified Practicing Midwife on the national level. Additionally, I maintain current certifications & complete regular training in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) & CPR/BLS.

What does prenatal care look like with you? How often will I see you?

06.

Prenatal visits are fully concierge, being offered in your home. This allows us to build trust & connection in your own sacred space. We’ll begin with monthly visits until 32 weeks, move to biweekly visits until 36 weeks, & then meet weekly until your baby arrives. Our visits include clinical assessments like blood pressure, fetal heart tones, & lab work, but the bulk of our visit is spent discussing questions, emotions, education, preferences, & preparations.

What happens during labor & birth at home? What do you bring with you?

07.

Once your labor has begun, we’ll be in close contact until active labor is established & it is time for me to join you. There, I’ll remain through birth & the early postpartum hours. I bring all of the necessary equipment you’d expect from a licensed professional, including: oxygen, medications for bleeding, IV supplies, newborn resuscitation equipment, & sterile instruments + sutures in the event a repair is needed. Additionally, I bring herbs, homeopathic remedies, essential oils, & other nurturing touches to support your birth holistically. A trained birth assistant that is certified in neonatal resuscitation also accompanies me. After birth, I will remain with you for several hours to ensure both you & your baby are stable, nourished, & tucked into bed.

Do you offer water birth or bring a birth tub?

08.

Yes! I love supporting water birth. My first two children were born on land, but I did utilize hydrotherapy during active labor. My second two children were both born in water. I believe it can provide beautiful pain relief, promote relaxation, & offer a gentle transition for baby. I offer birth tub rentals along with guidance on set up & maintenance. If you’re considering a water birth, we’ll discuss logistics & ensure you’re well-prepared.

But what if my apartment, condo, or house is small? Can I still have a home birth?

09.

Absolutely. Home birth isn’t about square footage, it’s about being in a space where you feel safe & supported. Personally, our third child was born in our small apartment bathtub! Professionally, I have attended births from studio apartments to large, spacious homes. We’ll work together during prenatal visits to plan the setup, ensure privacy, & make the most of your space. Birth truly doesn’t require a lot of room..just room to move, breathe, & be held.

What if there is an emergency during labor or birth?

10.

Safety is always my top priority. I am trained to recognize when birth is deviating from normal & to respond appropriately & timely. I carry emergency equipment & medications, & I have protocols in place for safe, timely hospital transfers should the need arise. I will accompany you, provide verbal report to the receiving team, & remain by your side should the need arise. Fortunately, emergencies are rare. Even so, I believe being prepared is a key part of safe home birth care.

Can I still work with you if I’m planning a hospital birth or am under the care of an OB?

11.

Yes. If you’re planning a hospital birth but want extra support at home during early labor, I offer monitrice doula services. I can assess your vitals, listen to your baby’s heartbeat, & help to navigate when the appropriate time to head to the hospital is. This hybrid model offers the best of both words: Clinical support at home & continuity of care as your transition to the hospital.

Do you take insurance, Medi-Cal, or offer payment plans?

12.

While I do not bill insurance directly, I provide my clients a superbill that they can submit to their insurance for possible reimbursement. Many families with PPO insurance plans are able to receive partial reimbursement. I offer all of my clients payment plans at no additional costs.

Can I transfer to you from OB care later in pregnancy?

13.

It’s possible, yes! I accept late transfers to care on a case-by-case basis. If you’re currently under OB care & exploring your options, I’d love to connect & discuss care with you. I have walked alongside many families who’ve made this shift. It’s never too late to choose a different path!

Do you support VBACs/TOLACs?

14.

I joyfully support VBACs. I believe every woman deserves respectful, individualized care & attention, with the space to birth on their own terms. We’ll thoroughly review your surgical & health history to ensure you’re a safe candidate for home birth.

What kind of postpartum care do you provide after birth?

15.

Postpartum care is one of the most beautiful parts of this journey, but it can feel scary without support in place. I return to your home multiple times in the immediate postpartum period to check in on you & your baby, offer breastfeeding support, & monitor your emotional wellness. Additional visits occur around 2-3 weeks postpartum & 6 weeks postpartum.

What areas do you serve for home birth?

16.

I serve families across Orange County, California & surrounding areas within a 1 hour radius of central Orange County. If you’re not sure whether you’re within my service area, feel free to reach out!
