About

intentional midwifery

MAMA BABY MIDWIFERY
is new in name, but rooted in years of trusted, hands-on experience.
Founded after serving families in home & higher volume birth center settings, Mama Baby Midwifery was born out of a desire to offer deeply personalized, relationship-centered midwifery care.

At Mama Baby Midwifery, we believe midwives are guardians of physiological birth. We are trained to recognize & respond to deviations from normal, but our true calling is to protect & hold space for the birthing process, allowing it to unfold as it was designed to. We offer skilled, compassionate care that blends evidence-based knowledge with the sacred art of simply being with women during one of the most powerful rites of passage of their lives.

The word midwife is a Middle English word that literally translates to “with woman”.

Our mission is to provide holistic, supportive care that nurtures autonomy, safety, & reverence from the first prenatal visit to the final postpartum embrace. We walk alongside you through the entire journey–listening deeply, honoring your intuition, & offering a blend of clinical & motherly guidance every step of the way. Mama Baby Midwifery exists to protect the physiologic process of birth, uplift women in their inherent strength, & support whole families as they welcome new life with confidence & love.

Here, birth is not managed–it is honored.

Hi, I am so glad you’re here. I’m Sarah, & I am the midwife behind Mama Baby Midwifery. My journey into birth work was shaped by the most profound experiences of my life–motherhood. I have four children–two born with a midwife & 2 born with only my husband & older children present. Each experience was wildly different, yet equally sacred. The pregnancies cared for by a midwife showed me the strength found in support, trust, & skilled care. The ones that were “wild”, or without a provider, revealed the raw power of instinct, surrender, & reaffirmed the divine design God has created. These experiences shaped me into the midwife I am today–one who trusts birth deeply, honors autonomy, & carries both reverence & readiness into every home that I enter.

My Christian faith & personal relationship with Jesus is the foundation of my life & work. It shapes the way I serve families, the way I walk through daily life, & the way I hold space for every woman that I serve. I believe that birth is holy ground & I consider it a sacred honor to be invited into that space.

I married my high school sweetheart in 2013 & together we have built a life centered on connection, simplicity, & holistic living. We lean into an 80/20 lifestyle that honors wellness, but also flexibility, with joy at the forefront. We are Tennessee natives who transitioned to Orange County, California in 2019 to honor my husband’s calling to serve a new fire department & we’ve embraced all that the West Coast has to offer ever since. We’ve made it a mission to experience the beauty of this state as a family & love getting recommendations on new places to visit & explore! Some of our favorites are Yosemite & anywhere in the Sierra Nevadas, Jedidah Smith & Prairie Creek Redwood State Parks, central coastal cities like Monterey & San Simeon, & parts of the Mojave & Colorado deserts.
In my free time when I am not camping, road-tripping, or hiking with my family, you can find me throwing a frisbee on the beach or swimming in the ocean with my children, enjoying an unforgettable meal anywhere from a hole-in-the-wall joint to a Michelin-starred kitchen, or homeschooling my children in the real world. I am also a lifelong letter writer & penpal, with over 30 friendships created spanning 10 countries. Some of the relationships I have cultivated with complete strangers remind me that connection, like birth, often unfolds in a beautiful & unexpected way. Give me your address & expect hand written birthday cards & postcards the old fashioned way–snail mail!

My midwifery education was completed through a MEAC-accredited school. Additionally, I completed & passed a California Midwifery Challenge Exam that is approved by the Medical Board of California, allowing me to graduate & obtain licensure early. This exam recognized my completion of all clinical & academic competencies, while also allowing me to bypass the standard 3 year didactic timeline–an achievement I am extremely proud of. I am a Licensed Midwife licensed by the Medical Board of California, the same board that licenses physicians. I am also a Certified Professional Midwife on the national level through the North American Registry of Midwives.
